How the rankings work

Compilation date 2026-08-08This article coversEsports players across disciplines: the pillars: First, look at who took home the most prize money for the full year, then break it down by game — CS2 / League of Legends / DOTA2 / Valorant / Fighting Games — using tournament results. With different games and different roles, we don't force everyone into a single "world's best player" ranking.

2025: Top 15 Across All Titles by Prize Money

Esports Earnings Ranked by total public prize money. First place goes to the Street Fighter player Kakeru（Capcom Cup 11 champion, in the roughly $1 million bracket), followed by the entire Vitality CS2 five-man lineup (each around $810,900), and then TI champions Falcons and Spirit among other DOTA players. LoL / Valorant players often don’t crack this top fifteen for the year—not because they’re weaker, but because the prize pools and revenue-sharing structures differ.

Further down the same table: Xiao Hai (fighting games), donk (CS2, ~$395k), and others. When reading this table, keep in mind that it measures "tournament prize money," not "who is the stronger player."

2026 to Date: What the Prize Money Leaderboard Is Tracking

As of the data pull, the top earner for 2026 is Sahara(Capcom Cup 12 champion, in the $1,000,000 tier; site total around $1,012,500). Behind him are a batch of fighting game and other esports players, plus the new-year earnings for the Vitality five (around $195k each). The rolling leaderboard shifts over time, so this table is just a snapshot.

CS2: HLTV Top 20 (2025)

In the earnings standings, all five Vitality players are paid equally; the HLTV year-end list, however, ranks individual performance. 2025:ZywOo First,donk Second,ropz Third,m0NESY Fourth. Teammates mezii and flameZ also made the list, but their rankings and prize money are not the same as a "five-way tie."

League of Legends: Before and After Worlds

Pre-tournament Sheep Esports expert vote:Chovy Chovy topped the list with 234/240 points, followed by Ruler, Kiin, Knight, and Tarzan... Faker ranked 20th (due to an inconsistent season, but still made the cut). Post-tournament:T1 Won again, beating KT in the finals, with the Finals MVP going to Gumayusi; in official reporting, Faker’s world championship tally now stands at six. The pre-tournament power rankings don’t decide who lifts the trophy, so both tables stay.

DOTA2: TI 2025

TI 14 in Hamburg: Prize Pool Approx. $2,881,791。Team Falcons Beat Xtreme Gaming 3–2 to take the title; PARIVISION finished third. The top earners on the prize list—Cr1t, Sneyking, Skiter, ATF, and Malr1ne—are exactly the players on that championship roster.

Valorant: Champions 2025

Paris stop:NRG defeated Fnatic 3–2 to take the title, with MVP honors going to brawk(Brock Somerhalder). The prize pool was roughly $2,250,000. Individual annual earnings rarely crack the top fifteen across esports, but the world championship MVP remains the key metric for the Valorant segment.

Fighting games: Why prize money charts often get blown wide open

Capcom Cup champions take home roughly $1 million: Kakeru (Cup 11, counted in 2025), Sahara (Cup 12, counted in 2026). Five-player FPS/MOBA titles split the prize pool; fighting games give one player the whole jackpot, so the top of cross-title earnings lists often features Street Fighter players—don't directly compare them to ZywOo or Chovy in terms of "skill."
