How the ranking works

Data as of 2026-08-06A club's "strength" is usually broken down into three tracks: the five-year UEFA coefficient determines Champions League seeding, Opta Power Rankings measure recent on-pitch form, and Forbes valuations gauge commercial scale. Real Madrid sit firmly at No. 1 in valuation, but they don't necessarily top the UEFA coefficient or Opta rankings right now — only when all three lines align does a club truly count as a top-tier powerhouse.

UEFA Coefficient Top 15 (as of August 4, 2026)

This is the cumulative score from the last five seasons of the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League. Bayern Munich leads with 127.50, Arsenal has risen to second with 125.00, followed closely by Real Madrid at 120.50, Paris at 119.00, and Inter at 115.00. Manchester City, Barcelona, and Liverpool all sit in the 103–105 range. Aston Villa's first-ever entry into the top 12 shows their European output over recent seasons has become genuinely solid.

In the same table, Chelsea sit around 18th and Manchester United around 24th. Their commercial profiles remain strong, but their five-year European coefficient has slipped into the lower half of the second tier.

Recent Form Rating (Opta Power Rankings)

Opta scores teams based on recent results and opponent strength, with fluctuations coming faster than the five-year European table. At the time of capture, Arsenal and Bayern Munich were tied at a perfect 100; Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Manchester United followed closely. Mid-table Premier League sides like Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Brighton also push into the top 20—this reflects "how they're playing right now," not a five-year European legacy.
