Some people weigh critic scores, some care whether players would put a game in their personal top ten, and some only look at how many hours it takes to beat. This article runs five parallel tracks: Metacritic's highest-rated PC and all-platform games; Backloggd's community Top list (favoring narrative and complete experiences); HowLongToBeat's main-story playtime for popular titles; SteamDB's weekly global bestsellers; and Wikipedia's historical sales figures. Evergreen multiplayer games show up in the sales charts, but they aren't necessarily a fit for a "clear the main story" mindset.
