How the rankings work

Last updated 2026-08-08. This ranking is based on MMA / UFC fighters, with the criteria locked to the present: belt holders follow the "Current UFC Champions" table on Wikipedia; cross-weight-class strength follows the UFC's official men's and women's Pound-for-Pound Top Rank. Starting June 2026, the UFC weight-class rankings will gradually shift to the Meta Elo model, but the P4P list can still be used for cross-weight-class comparisons—the table will list them separately rather than blending them into a single algorithm.

Champions per Wikipedia (at time of capture): Heavyweight — undisputed titleholder Tom Aspinall, with Ciryl Gane holding the interim belt; Light Heavyweight — Carlos Ulberg; Middleweight — Sean Strickland; Welterweight — Islam Makhachev; Lightweight — Justin Gaethje; Featherweight — Alexander Volkanovski; Bantamweight — Petr Yan; Flyweight — Joshua Van.

UFC.com Men's P4P Top Rank (as scraped): Islam leads the pack, followed by Volkanovski, Petr Yan, Gaethje, and Topuria. Holding a belt doesn't guarantee a top-five P4P spot—cross-division voting and title status are separate matters.

First, check which belt each fighter holds in their weight class, then look at the pound-for-pound ranking across divisions; if you rely only on Meta Elo for the weight-class lists, you’ll see mismatches with legacy media polls.
