How This Ranks

Compiled on 2026-08-09. The memory pillar breaks down into three tiers with specific figures: Steam July 2026installed basecapacity; Amazon US Computer Memory bestsellerskit models; Counterpoint Q2 2026 DRAM manufacturer revenue share. And on this site, theCPU rankingsSimilarly, Steam doesn't disclose the brand SKU of "which memory stick" — it does provide capacity breakdowns, so we fill in the model side using retail bestseller charts.

Steam installed capacity: 16GB still leads, 32GB closes in

July 2026 System RAM:16GB about 40.97%(down about 0.60 percentage points month-over-month),32GB about 36.93%(up about 0.14). The two are only about 4 percentage points apart. 8GB is around 7.98%(up about 0.22), the fastest-growing tier that month—Digital Foundry links this to rising memory prices pushing builds toward lower capacities. 64GB sits at about 3.99%, 24GB at about 2.16%, and 12GB at about 2.51%.

Retail kit listings: Amazon US (2026-08-09)

Top of the U.S. "Computer Memory" bestseller list that day, with laptop upgrade sticks and desktop kits mixed together. The top two spots both went to Crucial: a 16GB DDR4 SODIMM and a 32GB DDR5 SODIMM kit. On the desktop side, Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2×16) 6000 came in at No. 3, with the DDR4 Vengeance LPX 32GB kit at No. 4.

During the price hike cycle, DDR4 kits and laptop SODIMMs still hold a large share of the top sellers; among gaming-oriented DDR5 desktop kits, Corsair's 32GB 6000-class modules rank highest.

DRAM makers: Counterpoint, Q2 2026

Memory vendor revenue share (as relayed by Seoul Economic Daily from Counterpoint): Samsung at roughly 39%(up about 6 percentage points year-over-year, reclaiming the top spot), SK Hynix at roughly 26%(about 39% a year earlier), Micron at roughly 25%(up about 3 points year-over-year, trailing Hynix by only about 1 percentage point), and China's CXMT at roughly 7%(about 4% a year earlier). The report noted that commodity DRAM saw even sharper price increases, benefiting Samsung and Micron; SK hynix has a higher HBM share, but HBM3E average selling prices remain under pressure, and HBM4 volume ramp-up is still in the latter half of the cycle.

Vendor share figures reflect wafer and component-level business; on the installed/module side, they still pass through memory module brands (Crucial, Kingston, Corsair, G.Skill, etc.). In retail bestseller lists, Crucial ranks near the top, tied to the Micron ecosystem; Corsair and G.Skill are channel module names.
